Eye Health Evaluations

When discussing your vision, it is worth noting that your ability to see continually changes as you age. Most infants are hyperopic (farsighted) and more adults are myopic (nearsighted). In between lies a broad spectrum for you to be in. Much of this has to do with the shape of your eyeball. The type of correction that you will need depends on the deviation of your eye. These deviations also determine whether you are a candidate for glasses, contacts, or surgical corrections for your vision.

A Contact Lens Fitting requires our Doctors to obtain particular measurements of the curvature of the front surface of your eye with an instrument called a keratometer and may also include computerized measurements of your eye called mapping using a Corneal Topography machine.

Other factors that are considered for a potential contact lens wearer are how dry your eyes are, and how healthy your corneas are, these are generally evaluated in the eye exam and again considered during a contact lens fitting.

A wide variety of microscopes, lenses, and digital technology is used to assess the health of the eye structures, externally and internally. Our doctors will evaluate for cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic damage, and more during each comprehensive eye examination.
